Ephesians 1:17-18 (personal translation):

God, I pray for spiritual wisdom and insight so that I might grow in my knowledge of You. I pray that my heart be flooded with light so that I can understand the confident hope You have given to me. You have called me, and I am Your rich and glorious inheritance!

When I seek to know You, my heart is flooded with light and wisdom. Thank You for giving me hope I can be confident in, for You have made me holy. Thank You for washing me in the blood of Jesus and filling me with Your Spirit. You desired to set me apart and make me Your inheritance.

Ephesians 1:19-23 (personal translation):

I also pray that I will understand the incredible greatness of Your power for me because I believe You, Father. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honor at Your right hand in the heavenly realms. Now You, Jesus, are far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else-not only in this world, but also in the world to come. Father, You have put all things under the authority of Christ and made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church, we are the body of Christ-made full and complete-for You, Jesus, fill all things everywhere with Yourself.

How does Jesus fill all things everywhere with Himself? He does so by filling us-His body-with His Spirit and co-missioning us to go (Matthew 28:18-20). Jesus has been given all authority for our benefit, and He is the firstborn Son among many sons and daughters (you and me!). Jesus is now seated at the right hand of the Father, so we have been called (and empowered by the Holy Spirit) to follow in the footsteps of Jesus (John 14:12) so that all things everywhere are filled with HIM.

So, what is spiritual wisdom? Spiritual wisdom is knowing and living out our calling as God's inheritance (His Church, His children, His holy people) to do what Jesus did: love people, set captives free (share the Gospel, heal the sick, cast out demons), and love not our own life even unto death. We are created to glorify God by reflecting His image of love in a dark world.
